Enabling basic authentication

When connecting to Business Central through a web service, you need to be authenticated before you can access the data and business logic.

This recipe will show you how to configure your system so that you can connect to it from an external application using basic authentication.

Be aware that while basic authentication is perfectly acceptable for development purposes, it should not be used in a live environment. For live systems, you should use Azure Active Directory (AAD) or OAuth 2.0 authentication.
