Chapter 4. The Elements of Management Style: Coaching, Mentoring, and Supporting

Another key element of management style is the amount of guidance you offer your employees, and the way in which you offer it. Broadly speaking, there are three ways of offering guidance:

• Coaching

• Mentoring

• Support

Some managers feel that this sort of thing is not their problem, but you'll be a much more effective manager if you adopt these roles when it's appropriate for you to do so.
