Common use cases and recipes

Triggers can be grouped conceptually into families of behavior or logic. These include the following:

  • Audience/contact activity
  • E-commerce activity
  • Date-based events and data
  • Marketing channel activity
  • Integration and API events

Each of these is the broader conceptual group that you should think about when considering what you’re doing manually (or that you’re not doing at all because it would be too much work) that you could let the platform handle for you.

And I want to pause here and really emphasize this question:

What are you not doing because it’s too difficult and time-consuming?

This is the powerful point of automating some of the tasks that Mailchimp can undertake for you. It’s obviously wonderful if you can automate tasks you may have already been doing manually as discussed in some of the earlier examples in this chapter, but if you can create more contact points with your contacts...
