Distributing Force.com applications onto AppExchange

You have learned to build different kinds of applications and have also learned to build packages to distribute them. We can distribute the applications privately to specific users as well as list it publicly on AppExchange. Commercial and free applications (both managed and unmanaged packages) are listed on the AppExchange. In this section, we will discuss a high-level overview of distributing a Force.com application onto AppExchange. The AppExchange framework provides the following features, which add additional functionality rather than distributing applications:

  • Listing: The things that appear in AppExchange, including marketing aspects are considered as the particular application's listing. Any customer can study your application by reviewing the whitepapers, watching the demo, and test driving. A good application listing will convince the customer to click on the Get it Now button for installing the application.
