As an administrator, you have to take care of VMs that host different workloads and applications. In the easiest scenario, you do not have to take care of HA in terms of geo-redundancy. In other words, as long as you do not have to replicate the machines across regions, the easiest way to ensure everything works is using Availability Sets. However, Availability Sets only give you the option to secure against failed updates. When it comes to a data center failure, you need a more sophisticated feature. This is where Availability Zones (AZs) come into play. In this section, we will implement an AZ for our VMs to make sure they can survive even a region-wide disaster.
