Chapter 8: Understanding Security in Action
Security is the fundamental component of any cloud-native enterprise workload. Therefore, organizations’ main obstacle to adopting a cloud strategy is security. This chapter will focus on the practice, methods, tools, and platforms you can use to enforce secure platforms and communication with the target platform. Therefore, each layer of the application and cloud platform should be secured. Security must be implemented at an early point. Implementing security just once is not enough to protect the system from threats. Security should be part of your design, implementation, and practice. A secure reference architecture must be followed to design an architecture and establish an implementation method that enforces security controls at every phase of modernization. Similarly, a practice for continuously monitoring the platform’s security and performing different security operations to manage the platform must be in place.
