Segregation of data by regions
As we saw in Chapter 1, Introducing Google Workspace, Google Workspace uses a distributed architecture to store data across multiple data centers. Enterprises typically have specific compliance policies that require that the data be saved in a specific data region. Google Workspace addresses these requirements through data regions by allowing administrators to select the destination data region where Google Workspace data will be saved.
There are two editions of data regions:
- Fundamental
- Enterprise
While Fundamental data regions lets you set a region for all the users within the organization, Enterprise data regions lets you configure various regions for each OU:
