Summary
In this chapter, we explored the use of Elastic Agent as a unified collection mechanism for logs, metrics, and other data sources from your environment. We also looked at the role of Fleet Server in managing Elastic Agent across your environment.
We started by exploring some of the challenges in onboarding data in complex environments and the need for continuous data onboarding processes; we then looked at how Elastic Agent and Fleet solve some of these needs. Next, we configured instances of Fleet Server and Elastic Agent and went through practical scenarios of onboarding data from the host operating system, as well as an Nginx web server instance.
This chapter marks the end of Part 2 of this book. Now that we've explored each core component in detail, Part 3 will focus on building solutions and end-to-end use cases on top of the stack. In the next chapter, we will dive into building powerful and feature-rich search experiences using Elastic Stack.
