Creating counters and countdowns
Whether you're calculating the GDP of a foreign country or simply trying to count down from 10 to 1, the ability to create animating counters is a handy tool, even if it's not a tool you're going to use every day.
How to do it...
1. Open your Generators browser.
2. Click on the Elements category, as shown in the following screenshot:
3. Highlight the Counting generator and hit E to append it to your storyline. In reality, you can place this clip where you like—hit Q if you want to connect it to a particular clip or W if you want to insert it between two clips. Just beware of your playhead's position!
Take note that the default length of the Counting generator is 10 seconds long. This will be important in a moment.
4. Skim through the generator. By default, the Counting generator counts up from 1.0 to 300.0.
5. Highlight the generator in your timeline and open your Inspector if it isn't already visible (Command + 4).
