Threats and mitigations

The necessity for robust security measures is critical in the ever-changing context of SSI, where individuals have increasing authority over their digital selves. SSI software and infrastructure, like any other digital system, are vulnerable to a variety of risks that, if ignored, might jeopardize the integrity of personal data and user privacy. Understanding these vulnerabilities and the associated mitigation ideas is critical to preserving the trustworthiness of SSI ecosystems.

Cybercriminals may try to fool people into exposing their SSI credentials by acting as reputable businesses via false emails or web pages. Malicious actors might obtain login passwords, recovery phrases, or encryption keys, allowing them to gain unauthorized access to an individual’s SSI wallet.
