Simulation is not specific to the world of web services and SOA. It is coupled with most of the industrial scenarios. When manufacturing a new model of your favorite motor car, it usually goes through multiple simulations to mimic the representation and behavior of the final product. The massive and complex constructions are never done without simulations. Similarly, in large service-oriented projects, there are many situations where we need to mimic the behavior of web services and other entities that comprise the solution. Mock services or in simple terms, mocking, is a highly useful and important practice in the development and testing of web services.
