Understanding the importance of an RTM
Most often, an RTM is created during the test planning phase of the project. It will be very useful and handy if you start preparing this document right from the requirement phase and keep adding details as you progress through each phase of the project. This will make it easier to capture details accurately without missing out on any important items. Collaborating and reviewing this document along with other artifacts during each stage of the project enables us to maintain an active and up-to-date version of the requirements traceability.
Think of requirements traceability as the way we track the progress of the movement of goods from one point to another. Let’s assume a customer purchased a car.
