Prototyping a 3D-Printed Phone Case
We now find ourselves in the final chapter of this book, as well as faced with another practical application to test our skills and knowledge gained over the past 19 chapters. In this chapter, we will be designing and manufacturing one of the most complex and desirable 3D-printed projects, a custom 3D-printed phone case.
At first, this project might not seem too challenging, or even as complex as some of the ones we have done previously. But you may find that creating a phone case pushes the limitations of both Tinkercad and the typical 3D printers that you might find at home. These concepts and challenges will be broken down through the following topics:
- Acquiring the dimensions
- Modeling the phone
- Making the case
- Adding aesthetic and ergonomic features
- Manufacturing with specialty materials
As you progress through this chapter, you will have the opportunity to apply many of the skills and tools that we have been...
