Chapter 6: An Overview of Desktop Agent
As discussed in Chapter 1, SAP Intelligent RPA Architecture and Components, a Desktop Agent is a small on-premise component of SAP Intelligent RPA that we need to install on any workstation running automation. The core responsibilities of Desktop Agents are twofold. On the one hand, they maintain a persistent communication channel (using the WebSocket protocol) with Cloud Factory to run automations and report back the execution status. On the other hand, they interact with various desktop applications to run the automation.
In this chapter, we will cover the following topics:
- How Desktop Agent works
- Exploring the Desktop Agent tabs
- Common issues and their resolutions
By the end of this chapter, you will be able to understand the basic functioning and more nuanced aspects of using a Desktop Agent.
Let's begin with the first topic on the working of the Desktop Agent.
