Teleoperating Robots Using a VR Headset and Leap Motion

The term virtual reality (VR) is gaining popularity nowadays even though it is an old invention. The concept of VR first emerged in the 1950s as science fiction, but it was another 60 years before it gained popularity and became widely accepted.

So, why is it more popular now? Well, the answer is the availability of cheap computing. Before, a VR headset was very expensive; now we can build one for $5. You may have heard of Google Cardboard, which is the cheapest VR headset that is currently available, and there are many upcoming models based on it. Now, we only need a good smartphone and cheap VR headset to get the VR experience. There are also high-end VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, which have a high frame rate and response time.
