Summary

Well, I hope you have had a great start to your ADB journey toward making a decision to take your workload to OCI ADB. You learned about deciding which kind of ADB is appropriate for your use case. We looked at the differences between shared versus dedicated infrastructure. We explored use cases for both kinds of deployments. Getting a TCO and ROI calculation for business is important and we have seen how you can quickly create them for your business case. With the evolution of Autonomous Databases, IT leaders must think of modernizing enterprise computing by transitioning it to a cloud-based model to take advantage of lower costs.

ADB combines the flexibility of the cloud with the power of ML to deliver data management as a service. I hope by now that you have an understanding of what ADB is, its technical building blocks, the reasons why you should consider ADB, use cases for ADB based on deployment types, business benefits, and creating BOMs and the TCO/ROI for your business justification.

In the next chapter, we will cover various deployment choices in detail such as provisioning, IAM and networking requirements, and connectivity.
