Relationships
Nautobot’s Relationships feature provides a way for you to associate objects together as if they were model Relationships in Nautobot, allowing you to reflect your network design.
Use cases for relationships
Out of the box, Nautobot has a default network data model, as reviewed in Chapter 2. Let’s recall a few of those built-in relationships:
- An Interface has a relationship to a Device
- An IP address has a relationship to an Interface
- A Device has a relationship to a Location
- A Circuit has a relationship to an Interface
- A Prefix has a relationship to a VLAN
- A VLAN has a relationship to a Location
These relationships are generally universal; as such, Nautobot provides them to all users as part of the opinionated data model Nautobot ships with.
