Types of assessments

Matching the learning objective with the appropriate assessment can help you make sure that your students are able to demonstrate that they've achieved mastery of the concepts or skills required.

For lower-level knowledge such as definitions and identification of items, it is often good to use quizzes. For higher-level cognitive levels (which correspond to higher levels on Bloom's taxonomy), you may ask your students to write essays, complete short-answer questions, and even to participate in a Workshop in order to complete a collaborative activity.
