Protecting large-scale Hyper-V environments
This recipe covers how to set up a protection for a large scale environment or protecting a private cloud.
Getting started
The challenge that the DPM team met earlier was how to be able to scale the restore capabilities in a large, clustered environment. As a result of hard work, the DPM team released the Scaled-Out Protection feature that makes it possible to protect large, clustered environments.
How to do it…
For every DPM server to provide protection for the Hyper-V clustered environment, simply run the SetDPMServer
executable from an elevated command prompt. Running the command on every node and SOFS that hosts the Hyper-V service, you must also use the—add switch. The syntax you should run on every Hyper-V node and members of the SOFS is: SetDPMServer –Add –DPMServerName NETBIOSNAMEOFTHEDPMSERVER
