This chapter covered all aspects of memory within a Hyper-V Server host and how it relates within a cluster. You learned about physical memory first, then how it was used and controlled by the hypervisor. You were then shown how to configure virtual machine memory usage. Throughout, considerations and challenges for memory in a host and in a cluster were explored.
It is worth repeating that memory is too valuable of a resource to be wasted, so allocation should be done with care. It should also not be forgotten that it is difficult to make tweaks to memory performance that produce tangible benefits. The most important aspect to virtual machine memory allocation is to ensure it has enough that it does not need to page often, yet not so much that other guests are required to do without.
