Rendering stills

The Photo mode is where we can export still images, and this mode will be our first option when we need to export some images. However, it is possible to perform almost the same action and export single images using the Movie mode. This recipe is going to help us understand how we can do that and why we should think about the Movie mode as an alternative to the Photo mode.

Getting ready

For this recipe, we need to record a clip and create an interesting camera path with some key camera angles, because we will be using this to export our images.

How to do it…

To render still images, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Movie mode and select the clip that you wish to use to export single images.
  2. Before exporting your image, and because you are using a clip, you have to specify which frame of the clip has to be exported.
  3. Using the clip bar or the scrubbing feature, go back and forth in time until you find the perfect camera angle that you want to use to export the image.
