Supporting people doing their tasks
When you implement business process automation applications in Appian, you need to know the purpose of the user's interactions with the system. Typically, users will only tell you what they want in terms of a solution to a given problem. This is because they have already faced the problem in the past and found a solution using the tools they are familiar with.

Figure out the actual underlying need and the purpose it serves.
The tricky thing about process automation is that your application will be developed for specific needs and not be a generic tool that users can use, in any way they want, to conduct the process they have in mind (Excel or Outlook).
