Description

Hands-On Test Management with Jira begins by introducing you to the basic concepts of Jira and takes you through real-world software testing processes followed by various organizations. As you progress through the chapters, the book explores and compares the three most popular Jira plugins—Zephyr, Test Management, and synapseRT. With this book, you’ll gain a practical understanding of test management processes using Jira. You’ll learn how to create and manage projects, create Jira tickets to manage customer requirements, and track Jira tickets. You’ll also understand how to develop test plans, test cases, and test suites, and create defects and requirement traceability matrices, as well as generating reports in Jira. Toward the end, you’ll understand how Jira can help the SQA teams to use the DevOps pipeline for automating execution and managing test cases. You’ll get to grips with configuring Jira with Jenkins to execute automated test cases in Selenium. By the end of this book, you’ll have gained a clear understanding of how to model and implement test management processes using Jira.

Really happy that I came across this book and bought it. I got the Kindle version. Highly recommended for BAs/Testers/Test Managers looking to take a more methodical approach to managing requirements/software testing in Jira.- Quality of this Kindle edition is outstanding.- The actual content was surprisingly practical (well, the book does have it in the title). Although the example Jira plugins in the book are now a tiny bit outdated (as of today, SynapseRT is now TestRay, Zephyr is now Zephyr Squad, Test Management is now Zephyr Scale), the overarching framework used in this book to break down the functionality across these plugins is applicable far outside of Jira. We ended up using Testomat.io instead of the plugins in the book (because they all struggle with embedding automation alongside manual testing), but thanks to the practical nature of the book and its logical framework, we were able to just jump in, write tests and link into Jira as we go.This book covers the practical side of things for requirements engineering and test management. If you've studied up on Requirements Engineering, Testing & Test Management, then this book is the next logical step - it is the guide for how to apply all that knowledge in Jira. I'm not aware of any other book this practical.Would be awesome to see this book updated with newer plugins (there's really only 4-5 in the marketplace that are worth anyone's time). If you're looking for a further step into technical end-to-end testing, check out "A Frontend Web Developer’s Guide to Testing" by Eran Kinsbruner (Senior Director at Perforce Software) and "The Way of the Web Tester" by Jonathan Rasmusson. For a further practical dive into specific tools (Puppeteer, Selenium, Cypress), check out other books from Packtpub. Well recommended.

Can I download the code files for Early Access titles? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We try to ensure that all books in Early Access have code available to use, download, and fork on GitHub. This helps us be more agile in the development of the book, and helps keep the often changing code base of new versions and new technologies as up to date as possible. Unfortunately, however, there will be rare cases when it is not possible for us to have downloadable code samples available until publication.

When we publish the book, the code files will also be available to download from the Packt website.

How accurate is the publication date? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

The publication date is as accurate as we can be at any point in the project. Unfortunately, delays can happen. Often those delays are out of our control, such as changes to the technology code base or delays in the tech release. We do our best to give you an accurate estimate of the publication date at any given time, and as more chapters are delivered, the more accurate the delivery date will become.

How will I know when new chapters are ready? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We'll let you know every time there has been an update to a course that you've bought in Early Access. You'll get an email to let you know there has been a new chapter, or a change to a previous chapter. Early Access helps to unlock the potential of our content early, to help you start your learning when you need it most. You not only get access to every chapter as it's delivered, edited, and updated, but you'll also get the finalized, DRM-free product to download in any format you want when it's published. As a member of Packt, you'll also be eligible for our exclusive offers, including a free course every day, and discounts on new and popular titles.
