Technical requirements

We will be using the same hardware requirements as discussed in the Technical requirements section of Chapter 1.

With that, let’s go ahead and open up the Survey Model_Start.dwg file located within Civil 3D 2025 Unleashed\Chapter 4\Model. Once opened, you’ll notice that the file has zoomed into our site, as displayed in Figure 4.1.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, there really isn’t much content in there except for a surface model. This dataset was actually created with the use of InfraWorks, which will be covered in Chapter 14, so we won’t get into much of the details here, but InfraWorks is another civil application from Autodesk. However, it is good to note that whenever you need a quick existing conditions plan that doesn’t necessarily need to be survey-grade accurate, InfraWorks is a great tool to use to get you a quick base model that...
