Introduction
According to the online ESRI GIS Dictionary, a geoprocess is a GIS operation used to manipulate data. A geoprocess implies creating new data based on existing data. In general, this happens in the following circumstances:
- When data is copied, imported, or added from one source to another source (for example, a geodatabase)
- During data conversion (for example, loading data in a feature class from a CAD file)
- When analyzing data, that is, combining features or/and attributes from one or more dataset to create a new dataset
This chapter has the following scenarios:
- Counseling the local public administration
- Promoting alternative methods of transportation cycling
- Initiating a pilot project named VeloGIS
The goal is to analyze the possibility of creating a cycling infrastructure in our city. We already have a file geodatabase model named VeloGIS.gdb, and we received five CAD datasets from two departments of municipality.
