Creating a realistic mud material using procedural texturing in Blender
Let’s create the mud material using procedural texturing in Blender – but first, we need to understand the nature of mud. If we break down mud, we will find that it is a combination of soil, stones, loam, and other stuff, and everything is mixed with water, so these are the elements that we will be creating procedurally in Blender:
- Water puddles
- Soil
- Stones
To keep you motivated, this is the final result that you’ll be able to achieve by the end of this chapter:

You can skip this chapter and use the final result by downloading the Blender file that you will find at this GitHub link: https://github.com/PacktPublishing/3D-Environment-Design-with-Blender/blob/c9a6c37ca19a618bec29ac0e0f9a39576c9883ad/chapter-8/Procedural%20Mud%20Material.zip.
