Mapping a physical adapter (vmnic) to a dvUplink
Mapping a physical adapter to an existing dvUplink has to be done per host. Keep in mind that the physical adapter count cannot exceed the dvUplink count.
How to do it...
A physical adapter (vmnic) can be connected to a DSwitch either by using the vSphere Web Client GUI or by using the ESXi CLI.
Using the vSphere Web Client
The following procedure explains how to add an uplink to a DSwitch by using vSphere Web Client:
Navigate to the Host and Clusters inventory, and select a host from the list.
With the host selected, navigate to Manage | Networking | Virtual switches, select the DSwitch from the list, and click on the icon for managing the physical adapters:
In the Manage Physical Network Adapters for DSwitch window, click on the green + icon to bring up the Assign Physical Adapter to the Switch window:
In the Assign Physical Adapter to the Switch window, select the available vmnic, and click on OK:
