Other new features
The preceding sections described some of the major features in the VMware Horizon View 6 release. There are many other features that may be just as important to you. Some of those features are:
- View Connection Server, security server, and View Composer are now supported on Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems.
- Ability to send View logs to a Syslog server such as VMware vCenter Log Insight.
- Usage of the View Agent Direct-Connection Plugin to connect to RDS remote applications and desktops.
- Enhanced smart card authentication for View Administrator.
- Real-Time Audio-Video installs a new kernel-mode webcam driver on the View desktops and provides better compatibility with browser-based video applications and other third-party conferencing software.
- Space reclamation on virtual machines is supported for Windows 8/8.1 linked clones in a vSphere 5.5 or later environment.
