Part 1 – Preparing to Test
Before we begin testing, we need a detailed description of the desired behavior. This information comes from three main sources: exploratory testing to examine the currently implemented functionality; written specification documents, which generally need to be improved by the test team; and formal, detailed discussions with the product owner and development team. This part examines each of those sources of information and looks at different types of tests and how to use them to the best effect. Together those details fully prepare you to begin testing.
This part comprises the following chapters:
- Chapter 1, Making the Most of Exploratory Testing
- Chapter 2, Writing Great Feature Specifications
- Chapter 3, How to Run Successful Specification Reviews
- Chapter 4, Test Types, Cases, and Environments
