In this chapter, we’ve examined the thought processes involved in deciding whether to build a Robo-advisor. We started by covering the simple case of an individual, and why you might want to learn about the inner workings of a Robo-advisor in addition to, or as an alternative to, simply using an online Robo-advisor. For those already engaging in algorithmic trading, or pursuing a career in digital wealth, it should be well worth the time spent in learning, even if you don’t end up managing your money with your own Robo-advisor long term.
For businesses, the question is much more nuanced. We explored separately the concerns around buying, leasing, or building a Robo-advisor. We began by looking at the most common approach, which is leasing or licensing.
