Chapter 8. Monitoring Exchange

Throughout this book we have been exploring how to design Exchange 2013 with high availability in mind. However, this task does not finish once an Exchange environment is fully built and backups are configured. It is also critical for organizations to continuously monitor Exchange. Users often complain that their e-mail is slow and administrators struggle to identify where and why a slowdown is occurring or even if one is actually occurring. Addressing these concerns as early as possible, ideally before an issue occurs, is the best policy to minimize costs and avoid business disruption.

Comprehensive monitoring of Exchange within organizations is a vital prerequisite to ensure maximum security to the company as well as achieve a high level of performance and availability. Monitoring is also necessary to enable continued efficiency of company operations unconstrained by server performance issues.
