Advanced note-taking fundamentals for the SE
In addition to standard discovery meetings with prospects, as an SE, you will need to take constructive notes during certain types of customer-facing meetings that are very specific to your SE role. The best practice is to have a note-taking structure set up for each type of call, so you can properly capture the key facts in real time. In today’s day and age, electronic note-taking may be the most convenient method for obvious reasons, but many people also believe that handwritten notes are the most impactful for retention and understanding. If you choose to take notes electronically, I still believe it makes sense to consciously ensure your technical champion knows you are, in fact, taking good notes and not just playing the classic Galaga arcade game on your laptop or other device if they cannot see your screen.
