Viewing keystroke and signature biometrics
Many of us work on our computer, and interface with various entities in our digital world. In some cases, there is a need to verify someone’s identity while working online. Two methods that can be used to verify an identity are keyboard or keystroke recognition, along with signature verification.
First, let’s see how we can use our keyboard to prove our identity.
Using a keyboard
Whenever you type a string of characters, you have a unique way of hitting the keys. Keystroke dynamics is a behavioral biometric that evaluates how you type on a keyboard. This biometric identifier measures several aspects of the typing process, including the following:
- The time it takes you to press a key
- The latency between each keystroke
- How long it takes to type a string of characters
To use keystroke dynamics, the subject must first register into the system by typing between 60–180 characters. The algorithm...
