Connecting Sametime 8.5.2 Connect to telephony products


Let us examine how Sametime 8.5.2 integrates with telephony products. There are several types of audio and video integration available:

  • Point-to-point audio and video

  • Multi-point audio and video

  • Web conferencing with Sametime Meetings

  • Client-side plugins not using Sametime technology

  • Client-side plugins using SIP

  • Server-side TCSPI adaptor

Point-to-point audio and video

Point-to-point audio and video is where a Sametime client initiates a voice or video call with another Sametime client. Although the ability to do person-to-person calling is available in earlier versions of Sametime, it has been completely rewritten in Sametime 8.5.2 to be more robust and support n-way conversations. For this reason, only calls between Sametime 8.5.2 Connect and embedded clients will work, while calls to or from earlier client versions will fail.
