Summary
In this chapter, we learned about a very important component of the Tanzu product portfolio, VMware Aria Operations for Applications by Wavefront. In the first section of the chapter, we gave various reasons explaining the importance of this tool in terms of the observability of modern containerized applications. In this section, we learned about different out-of-the-box integrations supported by Aria. We also discussed how Telegraf collectors and the Wavefront SDK make it possible to integrate almost any data source for observability. Additionally, we discussed other benefits of Aria, including the high-speed data collection and processing power, and the ability to collect different telemetry data types including metrics, events, histograms, and span logs. Then, we listed different categories of data processing functions that can be used with WQL, including data aggregation, filtering, time operations, moving-window aggregation, exponential, and trigonometric.
