Central and local licenses
While licenses are pre-provisioned at the time of purchase, they are not pre-activated. To activate the licenses, they must be assigned to either of the following:
- The individual appliances’ interface IP address and primary Security Management server’s IP address (for a local license)
- The primary Security Management server’s IP address (for a Central license)
Local licenses are tied to a specific IP address and require you to make changes in User Center if this address changes. You can do this a limited number of times, but Check Point support can extend it if exceeded. The upside of local licenses is that they can be attached automatically to managed gateways or cluster members based on predefined IP addresses.
