Creating custom fields
The standard fields alone will not completely allow your team to record everything that is needed to capture the details and qualify this lead effectively. For this reason, we have the ability to create our own custom fields. Custom fields are one of the most important ways that you can truly create a Zoho CRM tailored to your business.
In Zoho, we have the ability to add up to 155 custom fields per module for Professional Edition and 300 for Enterprise Edition; however, it is easy to fall into the trap of adding too many fields.
So, follow the question Can we add a field for X? with subsequent questions such as the following:
- Do we really need a field for X?
- What will we do with this information?
- Who is responsible for collecting this data?
- How often will we be able to obtain this data?
