Understanding architecture governance
Governance is the act of ensuring that corporate assets and interests are protected while achieving business objectives and outcomes. Governance aligns strategic funds with the long-term goals, as well as short-term improvements, of the enterprise. Governance is broadly classified into three levels, as shown in the following diagram:
The three levels of governance are explained as follows:
- The corporate governance structure of the enterprise, with policies, principles, practices, and monitoring alignment to such corporate regulations.
- IT governance controls and guides IT investments and processes related to resources and assets through a set of strategies, practices, processes, and policies.
- Architecture governance ensures that the evolution of the solution landscape consistently aligns with the strategic objectives of the enterprise.
