Introduction to property sets and Style Manager
Although there is a lot of added value and benefit to utilizing property sets in our design files, it must be done so with intention. We certainly don’t want to have unnecessary information and work being done that could lead to budget overruns or even file bloat. It’s recommended to make sure that whatever custom property sets are defined in our files are in close alignment with downstream uses either in the design phase for labeling and reporting data or future construction, asset, and/or operations needs and requirements.
Thinking through and mapping out what you would like to achieve with property sets will allow you to stay focused on your end goal. Property sets can add many benefits to your projects, including the following:
- Additional tagging and placement for metadata
- Labeling and tabling
- Quick reference/linking to pertinent details (cut sheets, specs, etc.)
