Serverless Cloudflare
In the serverless world, Cloudflare stands apart from the cloud providers we have explored in previous chapters. Cloudflare doesn’t offer a cloud platform or even a comprehensive serverless platform suite. Instead, it offers services that are aligned with its core business.
Cloudflare started in 2009 by offering protection from email spam, but it soon expanded its portfolio into an array of network and content-related services. Most people initially knew Cloudflare as a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and a Domain Name Service (DNS) company. But it is much more than that. Today, Cloudflare boasts an array of internet services that fall into the categories of application and network security, web performance and reliability, collaboration and zero-trust security, and serverless platforms.
