Summary

Integrating social media into our mobile apps is a powerful tool and can make all the difference to the success of an app. In this chapter, we have seen how Facebook and Twitter provide software tools to facilitate this, and of course, other social media, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, provide similar developer tools.

Social media is an ever-changing world, and new platforms as well as development tools are appearing all the time, and there is no reason to believe that Twitter and even Facebook might one day go the way of MySpace. This is yet another reason to consider using WebViews where possible: creating simple web apps within our main apps allows us a higher degree of flexibility.

This brings us almost to the end of our journey, and in the next chapter we will look at what is generally the final stage of development, publication. However, this is also the point where we have to consider potential income, particularly advertising and in-app purchasing.
