Dictating is much better than typing!
You might have noticed within your Microsoft suite of products that there is a dictation option available to you. This is usually displayed as a microphone on the Home ribbon. OneNote is no different; you can dictate rather than type and use your microphone for this purpose instead of saving audio files.
To activate dictation mode in OneNote, follow these steps:
- Go to the Home menu.
- Choose Dictate.
- Now as you speak, OneNote will type for you.
- To stop the dictation, you can select the Dictate icon (the microphone) from the Home toolbar.
To add in common punctuation, you can say the following while dictating:
- Period
- Comma
- Question mark
- Exclamation mark
Test out these words for punctuation, and notice that OneNote will give you the word period in a sentence rather than the punctuation for a period if it makes sense to do so.
This feature might take some practice—remember that nothing...
