Configuring user accounts and roles


The addition of solutions such as vShield Manager need not carry with them increased management burden typically associated with a security or additional solution. In this section, we'll add our Active Directory based administrator account to a role within vShield Manager to demonstrate the SSO capabilities to authenticate users from other identity directories.

Getting ready

In order to proceed, we require access to vShield Web Console. This client can be run on any modern Windows or Mac desktop operating system or server operating system.

Note

vShield Web Console requires Adobe Flash, which is not supported on Linux operating systems at this time.

Ensure the account used for login has administrative rights to vShield Manager.

How to do it…

Perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Settings & Reports | Users area within vShield Manager.

    Note

    Only the default admin account exists upon installing.

  2. Click on Add.

  3. Select Specify a vCenter user (in our example training...
