Horizon View 6 integration with Virtual SAN
Before explaining how View works with Virtual SAN (VSAN), let's look at a quick overview of VSAN.
VSAN is one of the highlights of vSphere 5.5 and helps enhance VMware's future vision of their Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) solution. VSAN is a software-based storage solution that is integrated into the ESXi hypervisor. It uses the host's local disk drives (you need both SSD and HDD) to aggregate them to appear as a cluster wide storage pool shared across all hosts. The following figure shows the VSAN solution:
This creates a highly available and scaled-out clustered storage solution for hosting your VMs. Overall, it brings CPU, memory, and storage together which is the idea of converged infrastructure. It is a disruptive solution that is being developed and sold by other companies, such as Simplivity and Nutanix.
VSAN is integrated with vCenter and is managed through the vSphere Web Client. It works seamlessly with vSphere features...
