Versioning BRE components


Versioning BRE vocabularies and policies is very straightforward. In fact, the Business Rules Composer IDE doesn't actually give you the option to bypass the recommended versioning procedure for BRE artifacts. Once you have chosen to publish a BRE vocabulary or policy, it is not possible to unpublish it from the composer; you are forced to make a new version of the said vocabulary or policy if you want to make any changes.

Making a new version of a BRE artifact is easy. You can right-click on the top level of the vocabulary or policy and choose Add New Version to create a new version from scratch. Alternatively, you can choose to copy an existing version of the vocabulary or policy, right-click on the top level of the vocabulary or policy and choose Paste Vocabulary Version or Paste Policy Version. This allows you to use the copied version of the component as a starting point for the new version of the component.
