Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “For instance, cybersecurity
filetype:pdf
will provide results that contain the word cybersecurity and a PDF file.”
A block of code is set as follows:
interface wlan0 static ip_address=192.168.4.1/24 nohook wpa_supplicant
When we wish to draw your attention to a particular part of a code block, the relevant lines or items are set in bold:
kali@kali:~$ sudo apt update kali@kali:~$ git clone https://github.com/sherlock-project/sherlock
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
kali@kali:~$ sudo apt update
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “Next, the Editing Wired connection 1 window will appear; select the IPv6 Settings tab, change Method to Disabled, and click on OK.”
