The QGIS Processing framework
The QGIS Processing framework (formerly SEXTANTE) is an QGIS core plugin that implements a powerful analysis and geoprocessing environment and provides a user-friendly interface for various native QGIS algorithms and third-party analysis software, such as GRASS, SAGA, Orfeo ToolBox, and many others.
Tip
Refer to the QGIS user guide at http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/processing/intro.html if you want more information about the QGIS Processing framework.
The Processing user interface consists of four main components. Each of them allows you to run algorithms in a different way. Deciding which component to use depends on the task and type of analysis. As the Processing plugin is activated by default, we can access all of its components and functionality, except the batch processing interface, from the Processing menu:
- Toolbox: This is the main Processing GUI element. It provides access to all available algorithms (grouped by provider or purpose)...
