Creating an APEX workspace
To begin the conversion of a Microsoft Access or Oracle Forms application we need to set up an APEX workspace. This will be used to perform the conversion of the application and store the final generated application. In the workspace we need to create administrator and developer user accounts for those involved in the conversion process. When creating a workspace we need to define the database schema that will be used for the converted application. An APEX workspace needs to be created by an APEX administrator.
To demonstrate the conversion capabilities of APEX, we will walk through the process of converting a Microsoft Access application and then an Oracle Forms application. First, we will explore the steps required to convert a Microsoft Access application.
