In this chapter, you have learned the essentials about installing third-party Moodle add-ons.
You hopefully got a flavor of the breadth and depth of additional functionality that is available for your VLE. It not only demonstrates the extensibility and popularity of Moodle but also shows a significant benefit of open source software, namely, the ability to programmatically enhance a program to a user's requirements.
Other forms of extending the reach of Moodle are to integrate it with other systems and to network it with other Moodle instances. We will cover these two approaches in the two remaining chapters.
