Finding snippets

Whenever you want to add new functionality to a site, the first step is to find an appropriate snippet that can provide the site with such functionality. There are a few snippets that come packaged with MODx, in which case you don't have to install them. We will see one example of such a snippet in this section. In a later section of this chapter, you will learn how to install new snippets.

Now, let us consider how to add comments to blog entries. Searching in Google for MODx comments brings the page http://wiki.MODxcms.com/index.php/Jot as one of the first links. This page shows us that Jot is a snippet that can be used for adding comments to blogs. Note that in this case I have listed the name of the snippet. However, there are literally hundreds of snippets, and the list of contributed snippets is growing rapidly.
